Two weeks from today I will be on my way to Dominica. Whew!
It has been a very busy last few weeks and I am now residing in an almost empty house. I only have the bare necessities - a couch, tv, stereo, bed and microwave. As well, I only have the clothes that I will be able to take in my suitcase. It kind of feels like being in Kenya last year - only a few clothes for a month then too. Ah well, it is the beginning of my new adventure.
I am done work now and I am enjoying the time to slow down and get the last few things done. I am also trying to rest a bit - not easy though - too much on my mind still.
Having the moving company in here packing last week was quite an adventure - they were like cyclones and I had to keep running from room to room to make sure they weren't taking the things I had set aside to keep - like shoes. I turned my back for two minutes and they were packed. I had to look through packed boxes to ensure that I found them. It was amazing to watch how fast 4 packers work - they packed the whole house in a day and then loaded the container the following day. It is on its way now and hopefully it will be there around the time I arrive on July 7.
I just want to go now.

Just over three weeks to go........
I thought I should start writing something now so I don't forget everything later.
It has been a VERY busy last couple of months with selling the house, trying to sell my car and finding the right home for Jimmie and Tess. That was the tough part. It had to be the right home and the first one I thought I had lined up wasn't right. The second one is. It will be really hard to leave them, but it is for the best - for them.
I had my farewell lunch on Thursday at Katana Kafe with 21 of my Fanshawe Friends. It was a really nice way to say goodbye to the people I care about and who I think care about me. They all came so I guess they do.
Cori was just here picking up some more stuff. I hope she takes good care of my leather pants :)
I am so excited about my new life and I am acutely aware of those people that I am leaving behind. I know I am doing the right thing though. I have no fear, no regret and no moments of panic. It is time for me to go and I am so looking forward to my new job, my new home, my new friends and my new life.
Everyone seems to be counting down now. The movers will be here on Wednesday to take all of the stuff that is being shipped. It will be interesting living here without most of my things, but after Kenya last year, I know I can make do with very little.
I hope that all of my friends will post to this blog and will read it regularly. I will post regularly and update everyone about all of the things that are happening.
